SUF returned to the John Peel Centre for Creative Arts in Stowmarket on the 20th October for the SUF Annual General Meeting. Prior to the formal business of the AGM we had the preview of the photographic exhibition “Hello my name is…”. This is a project that SUF is working on in association with cooke64.
Jayne Davey, SUF Manager, welcomed the speakers for the morning and was followed by Nigel Cooke talking about his involvement with SUF and the background to the project. Then Carl Coughlin and Samantha Brook spoke to attendees about their personal stories, both very interesting and moving, we thank them for sharing.
The final speaker was Stephen Russell also known as the Barefoot Doctor. Stephen gave a fascinating talk and touched on the pilot scheme in the mental health sector he has been involved with in North London. The “Mental Health Ninja” programme is designed to assist people transiting from the mental ward back into the community, by teaching them aspects of the Taoist internal system. We were so pleased that the Barefoot Doctor came to our event. He really brought a dynamism to the room and his interesting involvement in mental health over many years concluded a very successful morning. Read more about Stephen at www.barefootdoctorglobal.com
The AGM business began at 12pm and we are pleased that the two trustees Tina King and Sam Brook are now formally elected.
