Role: Healthy Together Peer Support Worker
About me
I try to use my own experience and struggles with mental health issues to support others as well as speaking openly about the subject. I’m an avid reader who’s particularly passionate about animal rights and I love nothing more than spending time with my three cats.
What people say about me:
- I’m empathetic and supportive.
- Am a good listener and reliable.
- I treat people equally and am an open and quick-witted person.
About my work:
I joined SUF in June 2023 as a Healthy Together Peer Support Worker. I am already enjoying my role and having the opportunity to learn a well as using my previous experience. I’m also really looking forward to being able to make a difference.
The team have been incredibly supportive and friendly. They also clearly really care about their work and are knowledgeable which is lovely to see.
Academically I have studied social studies and social sciences. Work wise I have worked as a support worker and shift lead supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health issues. Most recently I have worked as a senior care assistant supporting elderly residents, some who are living with dementia and mental health diagnoses.
